He came to the Rogue River valley 35 years ago, since which time he had made his home in this vicinity, dividing his time of late between his farm at Dryden, on Deer creek, and his residence in this city. During the next day, Tuesday, Mr. Pierce had no occasion to visit the barn, but on Wednesday morning he found the dead body in a shed which adjoins the barn.
